That was last year - an abnormal out of the ordinary event.
"The highest temperature ever recorded in Cairns was 43.2 degrees in 1923. Since then, there have been only four recorded instances of the mercury going above 40: January 29, 1967; January 21, 1994; December 20, 1995 and November 2018."
