    Chuck.

I'm sick of Judical Activism, as it is corrupting our democracy by blurring the lines between the powers of Parliament (our elected representatives) and the Judiciary (appointed NOT elected). The latter is supposed to INTEPRET the law NOTmake it. Some examples of judges who IMHO have crossed this boundary:

    (a) Alistar Nicholson - now departed - of the Family Court, who resisted many attempts by the Government to make sensible changes to the Family Act.

    (b) Mason, who was on of the judges that handed down the Mabo Judgement. This is not be interpreted as being for or against this judgement but merely to state that it was NOT, IMHO, an intepretation of the law but a law of itself.

    (c) Justice Michael Kirby.

    etc etc.

If members of the legal profession want certain laws changed they should stand for Parliament and let the people judge THEM accordingly!

I believe in the 'Separation of Powers' and the judiciary must NOT set themselves ABOVE our elected representativies ie Parliament.
