yes of course, that's why it's called "insurance". But how would you feel if you came home and one of those statistical anomalies had occurred and your house had burnt down, and you had no insurance and a fat mortgage. So you are now paying for something that you can't afford to have repaired. I hope you get on well with your in-laws for the next 15 years or so. I hate paying insurance as much as the next bloke but I do know one thing......."s*#t happens".
