My strategy with car insurance is that if I drive safely and with awareness I wont be the cause of an accident. Hopefully I'll never be in one, but if someone else causes it then I'd claim off them.

- this has worked exceedingly well to date and the money I've saved would pay for an outright replacement of most cars on the road, who knows what that would be worth if you added in compounding interest. I dont spend much money on cars anyway so I wouldn't mind that much if I couldn't claim off whoever wrecked my car and be happy with a few hundred from the wreckers. (My real car isn't much better than the one in my avatar!)

The worst thing to worry about in an accident is the risk of physical harm to you or others rather than the money anyway. For some drivers out there I wonder if they were banned form holding any form of insurance whether they would drive more responsibly, unfortunately insurance removes their need to be responsible and the result is that people can end up with very serious injury or worse...
