200,000 of the unemployed will be school leavers???

there are only about 250,000 school leavers each year, using biased ill informed media reports can be misleading

No arguement though the hardest hit from an increase in unemployment will be the young, lower skilled workers and older workers.

However to date most of those I have read about who have lost jobs have been in the finance and mining industry which are not workers in the above group and retail workers.

and at a very bare minimum 300,000 people losing jobs takes $9,000,000,000 out of the economy in a direct hit

and one persons spending is another persons savings so $9bil less being spent in the economy mulitplies in its effect as this money is not spent on goods and services that provide more jobs and income to others.

And this is before looking at the direct affect on home ownership and rent payments where families either lose their only source of income or drop from dual income down to a single income.

Sorry but it defies alll logic to expect any sort of rise in property prices, of an already high base given the general conditions of the economy
