There is no scam. The company operated legally, but this outcome is only because shareholders let them do it.
Quite simply they spent all the money without getting any income, always saying the income was about to start and the shareholders not only believed it and encouraged it, but did the company's work by pumping it, making up stories and attacking anybody who called it into question.
