Nothing wrong with manganese - followed another Mn story a couple of years ago which didn't get there in the end.
Anyway, can't remember the link to the article but apparently supply is short, no one's made a decent discovery in years and there is no substitute for it in steel production.
So if you believe the China/India story then demand will be strong for the forseeable future.
