I used to have this conversation comparing gambling to trading with my ex.... Horses V Trading

Trading is like being on a horse in a race then deciding you wanna get off half way round.... there is input into the stake at every step... whereas with gambling... your in it for the duration.... One can evaluate a stock the same as evaluating the quality of a horse, the difference is.... the horse is racing against other horses and this then depends on the performance of all these other horses.

When a trader backs a stock... its just that stock. The performance of other stocks has no bearing. If circumstances change... then I can cut my losses and get out. Im doing my own research and backing my judgement with knowledge and then there's the effect of the market place which at times might be questionable.... but this is only a part of the overall assessment.

Gambling is luck.... and no way out.... Trading can be the same.... if you are a mug.
