I think George is being advised by those who pull his strings to hit Saddam..and he will

now Iraq is not a natural state..it was created at the end of WW1 by the great powers..

historically the empires in the gegion were turkey and Persia..

a breakup of Iraq into northern (Kurd) central (Turkoman( and southern would upset noone..

it would of course increase the relative strenth of Iran Syria and Turkey but the US may have to wear that if it wants a permanently weakened Iraq
