War - Politics - Economy - Hawthorn Interesting discussion topic / s - guys and gals.
I think that Yak has somewhat hit it on the head with the chaos theory.
Equilibrium and balance is what is sought both in the miniscule that is the human world, and of course in nature and the non human universe. With an inderterminable, and probably incalculable number of factors and affectors influencing and manipulating everything in existence (and probably that which does not exist), it is not theoretically impossible to measure proposed outcomes. We do it everyday! The good word would be 'probability'.
Assuming probability, there will most likely be an attack on Iraq in the near term - surprise, surprise.
The U.S has been doing the rounds to gather political support. I tell you what though, a current poll on ninemsn in Australia asks:
Would you support military action against Iraq?
The poll is still open, but the current results are as follows:
Yes: 12223
No: 12872
Those results actually surprise me. Aussies don't tend to think substantially outside of what is proposed along party lines. So we know an attack on Iraq is not electorally popular in this country.
Another interesting and substantial element is Europe. Europe has been moving towards diplomacy and attempting to identify clever solutions to current global situations. This differs somewhat from the U.S' activities and nature. This approach has led and will continue to lead Europe closer to being the number 1 global economy - the standard. Soon, it will no longer be prudent to use the US$ as the standard.
I think the U.S economy is heading for a long, drawn out economic recession, which in turn will frustrate both its' legislators and peoples. Although, the yanks are always happy to put their hands up for war, I think the political climate has changed, and much more consultation and accountability is / will be required.
Just some thoughts. I'm too bloody hungover after the footy last night, to continue. Can't stand Colonial Stadium - go the mighty hawks!!!!!
