Would like to think your utopean prediction of the future was a possibility but history tells us otherwise.

Your assertion that "Religions will lose their influence universally" flies in the face of the current trend.

I don't recall who it was who said "Religion is the opiate of the oppressed" (maybe Starlin or Trotsky ???), but I think history has many times confirmed the correlation

Until there is a global consciousness toward universal equality and the redirection of global resources to the eradication of poverty (hunger, disease etc), there will always be fertile ground for the seeds of discontent, religious fanaticism & anarchy.
The real pity is that if the capitalist "world" could just take a 20 year "breather" from it's traditional avaricious model and devote its energies and talents to eradicating poverty, their future "market" would be many many times larger that it currently is

But there is little chance of impressive returns on investment for the 20 years of "humanitarian" effort so not too many "boards" are likely to risk the ire of their shareholders on that . . . . . so it would be up to the pre-eminent government of the day to take the lead . . . . does this description fit George Dubbya & his dogs of war ??????

No . . . . unfortunately, I see the current US policies as fueling an increase in oppression which in turn will result in an escalation of religious fanaticism and retaliation (terrorism) . . . . the times they are a changin . . . .
We may well be seeing the early days of the demise of Imperial USA, just as the British, Roman, Greek etc etc before them . . . . it's the irresistable "scheme of things"
