I think anyone that bought today could not vote (T+3) but if you sold today and the settlement was after the meeting - I would expect that the vote would NOT count. I know it is different treatment but it would be fair - perhaps someone else knows.
In the end I imagine Nervous is protecting his capital but is retaining enough shares to vote and chose today (or before) to sell whatever amounts he did. I am sure he will fill us in when he is free - he sounded a bit rushed today!
To be honest, my head is spinning a bit so probably making no sense at all.
