There are apparently large numbers of homes in both Sydney and Melbourne with absentee owners.
There are a lot of homeless people and people who can't afford the rent they are paying.
So - the government seizes any bank accounts that aren't transacted for 2 years or more.
How about - if livable homes are not used for 2 years or more - the government seize them - and lets them out to people in need at reasonable rent?
If the owners show up - just like in a bank account - then they apply to get the funds back - in this case - the property back.
Several problems solved in one sweep ----------- a. usable property is not wasted. b. the property is put to good use. c. low income earners and/or homeless numbers reduce dramatically.
Win win all round.
How's that?
