With Hydrogen Im talking Heavy Industry using Solar to produce insitu Hydrogen. So no transport and consumed quickly so no long term storage concerns. Considering most Heavy Industry has sufficient space there are lower safety requirements compared to Food/Bakerys.
I always thought that Solar & Wind could be more sparsely spread across the regions rather than clumped together in REZ zones.
Lithium currently cannot perform beyond 4 hours under current chemistry so Im surprised Sodium/Vansdium BESS wasnt at the forefront as they are not limited in that way. Batteries are basically for firming anyway.
We should have done pumped hydro long time ago.
