On average Australia's coal fired power stations are unavailable to deliver power for 25% of the time & getting worse as they age.
No complex mechanical system is on line 100% of the time, if they were they would have 25% less of them. This is also true of wind/solar. Last time I spoke to my son a transformer in the solar farm he works at spilt all it's oil. Inverters fail with monotonous regularity.
Look at Sonic's energy generation chart above, As the sun set and the wind died fossil fuels picked up 100% of the ruinables' failure to deliver, not 75% of it.
