The irony of this situation would be humorous if they weren't playing with SH's funds. In effect ESG told OIP to go play in the corner and I'll come and get you when I'm ready.Just as STO taking a stake in ESG was exactly the same scenario. Neither counted on having a rebellious child disobey them. Presumably ESG will intend to bring OIP back into the fold and tidy up the mess, that is unless there is a third entity waiting to play a spoiling tactic. From a SH's point of view one can only hope.
