    There is currently a solar glut, [or demand drop] with the balmy autumn weather with few using heating or aircon so earlier today power in Qld and NSW was at $0 and the other states -ve. Now @acorn would cheer that but as always the solar won't be there for the evening peak and there won't be enough hot boilers to take over. You will see in the pic below how they have to ramp up generation and that happens every day. This is totally unreasonable to expect thermal generators to work with such short duty cycles, they work best and quite cheaply if they are fired up and allowed to run 24/7 providing base load, something the ruinable power proponents say is no longer necessary.
