    Sorry to belabor the point but it is still a chemical generator

    IE you take electric power and heat the silicon and change it's state to a superheated, molten state.
    That has to be insulated so it retains it's heat until you want to use it, you then use that heat, changing it's chemical state again by using the heat to drive a generator

    And NONE of these so called batteries are cost efficient and none of them can supply power for any length of time

    Their only benefit is that they can be used to even out the erratic power supply that occurs WHEN you use renewables

    If you have hydro, coal, gas, nuclear they do not have a place in the system and are just an expensive dream

    In fact unless the suppliers of these renewable s can STOP all coal and nuclear power generation they will go bankrupt

    AS with most activity --- follow the money
