    San Felipe, one of the big difference is that the only player getting tackled in rubgy is the one carrying the ball. And not often at great speed either since the field is so crowded.

    In NFL pretty much every player is is a tackler on every play, defense and offense. An offensive tackler is trying to stop a 300 pound defensive tackler from sacking the quarterback and so forth. Some weigh close to 200kg. A running back runs at these huge guys with great speed. Receivers can get tackled from all angles, quite often blindsided.

    In rugby a player runs at the tackle and get tackled to the gound. In NFL the tackler runs at the ball carrier, colliding often head and shoulder and brings him down any way he can. Pretty much the only thing illegal is grabbing tha facemask.

    Except for perhaps a quarterback many players don't play too many seasons. They get too battered.

    rubgy = contact sport
    nfl = collision sport

    Of course rugby is a tough game and I have been to games live and watched plenty on tv. Sometimes it's quite fun but often the crowd is so small there's no atmosphere at all. So quiet. Different from 70,000 at an NFL game.

    Kinda sick of this 'let's bash the US' without even knowing anything about it.
