With even more recent cooling the pause statistically could return. i.e. hypothesis is that the rate of change of temperature over the test period is not (statistically) significantly different from a zero rate. If you do not have 95% confidence of rate > 0 then pause continues. Different temp data sets have different values despite the science being settled, the length and existence of pause hence varies by temp data set.
