The point is simple. How robust is the peer review process in this field?
Yeh I am sure the blogger has made mistakes. I am sure we all have made mistakes, its human. But the difference here is the blogger does not carry the duty or responsbility of peer review. The consensus does. Also his opinions will be dealt with contempt if someone doesn't like them, the peer body's work on the other hand can't be. Its gospel. Any part of the questioning public is dealt with contempt.
When many people who are supposedly experts in their field all seem to miss such an error which supposedly a blogger can pick up, it defintely should make you think.
Again, if the error existed (however small), its still an error. How much can you trust a writer that doesn't even show the diligence of checking the top 5 warmest years?
