Yes you can claim the loss if you have income to claim it against.
On the possibility of a takeover its been bandied about for a while now so if there is a possible suitor then you would think tomorrow would be the perfect time to push the button.
If the DOW rallys overnight the tax loss and downgrade selling has brought the share price down to and all time low and a doji on support they could not pick a better time. Maybe tomorrow! Please.
