That article is from Feb 2021 and features the head of the Talma Sami group.

"Talma has indicated in previous consultations that it considers that both the key area at Nunasvaara and all themigration routes within the area, including the one running just above Niska Norra, are of national interest, even ifSami Parliament has designated the national interest. The County Administrative Board has pointed out in its consultation statement that migration routes, due toreindeer husbandry's need for functional connections within the Sami village's grazing area, are so important that they could be considered of national interest.Talma Sami uses the area mainly for winter grazing, but there may be reindeer in the area throughout the year.At Nunasvaara there is a collection area where the reindeer naturally go to graze and rest for a longer period.period. Just west of Hosiorinta there are grazing areas used during the migration of reindeer herds betweendifferent grazing areas. There is also a reindeer guard cabin just east of Nunasvaara."

"In order to minimise the impact on reindeer herding, a number of protection measures will be implemented. The individualmost important measure is that opencast mining will only take place during the summer months when the reindeer are notin the area to the same extent. Other measures include the location and design of the industrial estateplanned to avoid the Sami National Interest Areas and to minimise the impact, andnoise, light, dust and odour disturbance from the operation is minimised so that the avoidance zone is as small as possibleas possible. Upon termination of mining activities, the area will be restored in consultation with the Talma sameby.Talma will also be compensated for the increased costs of reindeer husbandry resulting from the company's activities."

Following this, Talga announced in the DFS in July 2021 that they had completed consultation with the Sami groups (see extract below). So it appears the concerns of the Sami have been satisfied with Talga's precautions to limit disruption to reindeer husbandry, as well as the compensation for increased costs.

"Consultation has been completed with the Sami indigenous groups and constraints have been put on the mining schedule to ensure seasonal reindeer migration and husbandry will be maintained. This includes a commitment to avoid mining activities during periods of the year during which the reindeer movements are expected. Reindeer herding impact assessments have been completed by the indigenous peoples group representatives, and an extensive Stakeholder Engagement Plan is being implemented."
