No Uranium Mining
The Aboriginal Land Rights struggle by the Jabiluka Mirrar People and Miss Jacqui Katona, Yvonne Margarula and Christine Christophersen is a major Aboriginal protest against uranium mining.
Australia does not need uranium mining and Traditional people do not want it either. The Land is an important "bank" for Aboriginals as it provides assets for life and growth for fauna, flora and humans.
Dreaming runs from Queensland into the Northern Territory - such as the Frog Dreaming from North West Queensland to Kakadu. The Frog is important to world survival and life of the country.
The native frog travels across country. His monument from the creator sits up across the land on his travels. And at Boorooloola the Frog monument stands tall - a demonstration of the long-term custodian rights and principles of his powers for all to see.
The Aborigines' Law and duty to continue to protect the land is strongly evident within the Mirrar People and Yvonne, Jacqui and Christine and their supporters.
We, the Kalkadoons in North West Queensland, have lobbied the Premier, the Hon Peter Beattie MLA and the Hon Judy Spence MLA and the Valhalla Uranium Mine in North West Queensland. We are against uranium mining and the older Mary Kathleen Mine is a living testimony of how the mining industry cares for country. An open-cut radium pool of water which international tourists swim in for recreation - Queensland tourism at its best. So we must continue to stop uranium mining in Australia. The battle fronts are many and the stance to stop it and protect the country unites many Australians.
So the NO URANIUM MINING program must continue. We must not punish the world for this evil ore to be used for fuel when the sun and winds and many other products create fuels for energy, for power.
People power to stop uranium mining has to manifest and show the world Aboriginals don't want it now or ever.
