The earth has its own cycle. But it's a good idea to consider that other events such as large meteor collisions can also have an effect.
If we change the composition of our atmosphere enough, through emissions, nobody can predict what can happen, but given the changes in atmospheric conditions that seem to be associated with these cycles, it would be imprudent to say that the atmospheric composition is the effect rather than the cause of changes in temperature.
