And at times further back in the past 2008 would have been regarded as very cold so it all depends on the time span you choose.
You can make the figures indicate anything.
The fact is that current global temperatures are in a short term downtrend which has been in place for about eight years. The last warming cycle seems to have peaked in 1998 and we are now in a new cooling cycle.
