    Moby,
A CSIRO scientist, Dr Spash, wanted to publish something that didn't follow the party line. He was initially refused permission and suddenly counselled for minor faults in his leave request paperwork. The message was clear. I think it was only the safety of the spotlight which saved him.
How many anti AGW scietists are governments sending to Copenhagen. How many advocates.
I suspect it is only retired scientists who can afford to risk speaking out. Does their age condemn their views or scientific rigor? There is still fear.
The oppression of opinion is closer to the inquisition than McCarthyism.
John Howard didn't want a republic but he funded the other side of the debate and was prepared to argue his case.
I don't know which side is right in this debate but I hate the bullying, name calling and politicisation of what should be scientific.
