we all read the prospectus (or we all should have) and we all knew that this was a longterm proposition

I happen to agree with you to an extent in that a near term producing asset would be very handy. I do believe that VEC is sitting on a pile of $$$ and have no doubt they will be seeking a new project now that the columbian deal is terminated. I believe that there is no immediate need to rush this as many bargains will present at distressed prices over the next 6 months or so a little closer to home than columbia.
I also believe that all the fear in the IO markets will turn and demand will improve

The columbian project suffered imo from adverse FX movements and the failure of vendors to deliver so be it
there will be other opportunities
