    Parrallax, all leaders have differing styles. Some are aggressive to the point of being in your face [eg. Tony Abbott], others are charismatic and inspirational [eg Gough Whitlam], some are flamboyant [eg. Don Dunstan], some ooze power and competence to the point they're perceived as arrogant [eg. Paul Keating] and so on.

    Leadership style doesn't necessarily equate to good leadership though.

    Thus far it's not apparent as to what sort of leader Bill Shorten really is.

    As a product of the union movement Shorten must now distinguish himself from that background if he is to represent all Australians. He still has a lot of time to do so but until he does that's a major problem for his campaign to replace Abbott. Unless his crew develop an appropriate media construct for him fairly soon, the media at large will do it for him and rather less generously!
