Spy, not sure if you are familia with Perth but getting to and from the Airport is a big bug bear. I find the easiest and cheapest is to drive there and leave the car at the Airport.
I have little reason to use public transport, apart for on occasions I have a meal and few drinks in Fremantle. I did use public transport for a while when I has going to Uni, at best it would take one hour but usually 1.5 hours while driving would take 15-20 minuites
The park and ride is a issue for those that do use it, at most of those facilities if you don't get there early enough there is no parking spots left.
The amount of land that is taken up by roads and parking facilities is ridiculous
