I've been wondering about this.
It's not like the company has any access to our investments, stock being a one-time sale for the business, so it can either be to stop a run on the stock that knocks it out of the ASX, or to prevent a takeover.
Any other ideas? And does anyone know whether it's possible to mount a takeover bid while a stock is suspended?
