The root of the collapse in support for the Coalition is obvious.
Yet, there remain a few hardy souls on HC like dex, Justis, footy - to name a few - who think this dud of a PM is doing a sterling job and all he needs to do is keep swerving further the the left.
What he is doing has done, is trash the Liberal brand. There are many who won't vote Liberal again until they come to their senses. The Turnbull fan-boys can argue to their hearts content, but the polls tell the story.
This dud long ago opted for a small target strategy - eliminate points of difference with Labor ie lurch to the left. Problem is, as both Chris Kenny and van Onselen wrote yesterday in excellent articles, that just begs the question - what do the Liberals stand for? Clearly, not much, again as the polls show. The answer is not to minimize contrast with Labor, but to maximise it. Pulling out of the Paris Agreement would be an excellent start.
