It would appear that the Pope, who apparently should be a progressive - does indeed fear the ability of the masses to gain rapid access to a vast body of knowledge.
A rather interesting revelation really. I would have thought that he would have kept his close fears hidden - but, there you go. You can't really remove the Catholic from the priest, ever.

reminds me of the CIA station chief Harold Holt in the movie 'Charlie Wilsons War', "A sudden influx of money and weaponry would draw attention''
it indicated Holt's fear that it would show that the USA was at war with Russia - but, Wilson argued that everyone knew there was a cold war anyway
