I do not condone the US invasion of Iraq, but to be fair for the most part the killings there have been by Arabs not by US. Its a very unstable region and has been for hundreds of years. It looks like Saddam (bad as he was) was needed after all to keep the country unified and ensure that Iran did not invade them to take over the oil. I think the Kurds still appreciate the US.
China's behaviour in Tibet is inexcusable given their own histry of having been invaded in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are simply repopulating Tibet with Chinese. They are doing this wherever they can, eg have sent 1 million people to Burma, from which stemmed the recent riots there.
The Chinese attitidue towards investment in China by outsiders and their investment overseas is not remotely fair, in fact its based on the old "iron fist" approach and I call it neo-colonionist. Imagine keeping 5,000 troops in Sudan to protect their interests and protesting to the Australian government a few years ago when there was some discussion here about us putting an Australian (not US) base in the North West Shelf and Pilbara area. This last point really indicated to me what China's ultimate intentions are for Australia (colony or worse). Do you think for one minute that the average Chinese oppose such a notion.
Its foolish to get too carried away about the state of how many Chinese now live. They could have had a much higher standard of living long ago if they had chosen the way of Taiwan. And in any case, they will catch up with the west over the next 20 years (may be even sooner) so what is there to worry about except their behaviour to others (now and in the future).
And to put things into context its only a few generations ago that most people in the west were relatively poor peasants or factory fodder.
However, all be resolved in time when we run out of cheap energy and have to go back to living like animals again.
