AIM RESOURCES LIMITED
PERKOA DRILLING EXPLORATION PROGRAMME 2007
Aim Resources is pleased to announce its new exploration programme for 2007. Two
drilling rigs are currently being mobilised to its world class Perkoa zinc
deposit, with a view to extending the existing resource. The company expects to
start drilling in the next few weeks.
The present exploration programme will include:
• Geological mapping
• Ground IP that was found effective on the Perkoa deposit
• Soil geochemistry
• R.C. drilling
• Then core drilling
Following the discovery of the Perkoa VMS deposit (6.7 million tonnes @ 16.4%
Zn), a number of exploration programmes were undertaken to discover additional
VMS deposits as they are rarely isolated and often occur in clusters.
The main focus will be on 31 anomalies identified by airborne magnetic and time
domain electromagnetic surveys undertaken by Billiton in 1998 over an area of
250 square km. Of these, 13 were investigated on the ground by time domain EM or
induced polarization. Eight anomalies were drilled followed by downhole EM
surveys where possible.
The results were encouraging as hydrothermal alteration comparable to that of
Perkoa was found in some of the holes. Furthermore the interpretation of the
downhole survey showed that some of the holes were not optimally positioned to
intersect the bulk of the conductors.
Following a change in its exploration strategy the programme was unfortunately
stopped by Billiton around the middle of 1999. However, reinterpretation of the
data has given Aim Resources useful orientations for further exploration. The
following anomalies will be targeted:
Anomaly 2:
It is located 400 m southwest of the Perkoa strike length. On that anomaly
previous drilling intersected 20m of sphalerite/pyrrhotite at 200m depth. Hole
PS20 100m west of that hole intersected disseminated pyrrhotite. Two shallower
drill holes totalling 400m will be drilled to intersect the main portion of the
mineralization.
Anomaly 10:
This anomaly is located 2.5km NE of the Perkoa deposit. Two previous holes
drilled there intersected disseminated sulphides and showed some hydrothermal
alteration comparable to Perkoa. Two holes totalling 500 metres will be drilled
on the extension west of the existing holes.
Untested anomalies:
In addition to the above, 7 untested anomalies (9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17 & 22 - see
attached map) will be investigated. The choice is subsequent to the
reprioritisation of the anomalies based on the experience acquired during the
first phase of drilling. Ground IP, soil chemistry will be undertaken on the
anomalies that were not already covered.
If the results are positive drilling will then be undertaken.
The current programme takes into account the 900m on anomalies 2 and 10 and an
additional 2700m on the other targets giving a total of 11 holes and 3600m.
