We get US dollars by exporting services. I know that when people think of exports they visualize a ship leaving port full of crushed up dirt or bales of wool but this is so old world. Increasingly Australia is exporting intangibles - services. Education exports, for instance, are an important USD earner for Australia which is why governments are very sensitive to reports of assaults on foreign students.

At the moment I'm cogitating on selling ARI and inviting my family out to a Chinese meal (as long as they didn't order Peking duck) or riding them down and showing a CGT loss in my next tax return. Advice welcome.
