The rainbow represents all the emotions combined in love in true light.
Gays seek that. Everybody kind of does on some level. Equality.
However, like everybody else, they run from the true light, the spirit of it, for the default of the flesh.

You're not much different pursuing flesh and material desires. Splinter log type thing. Looking is as bad as desiring. Disliking is like murder etc.
