the relationship between anp and isis

I admit, I have a lot of trouble keeping up with the technicals on these biotech stocks (I'm not a pharmacist) and therefore have trouble understanding the impact of ISIS on ANP. I'm really a resource stock kinda guy.

Can anyone, in layman's terms please explain why if ISIS is trending up, that ANP should follow suit?

I know that ISIS own a small share in ANP and that ISIS are doing similar work to ANP but that's about it. Is it just the fact they are doing similar things that ANP should have a positive knock on effect, similar to how sectors run together? (think graphite stocks in the resource sector)

I'm risking people calling me dumb here or "not understanding my investment" but frankly I feel I know enough about ANP to guage where they are headed.

Any help would be appreciated.
