Good point.
There is a total lack of will. IMO if the US are not going to go in properly and finish it off within a few weeks, then they may as well leave altogether and leave it to the ME to deal with.
let's not forget that large parts of the ME actually support ISIS, as ISIS is inherently anti-west. I get the impression that many here on HC support (or make excuses for) ISIS for the same reason.
