the report

The leaks coming out about "the report",- you know the one where the NBNco can build the NBN without telstras cooperation is reportedly full of arse covering by the writers of said report.
Rather than concentrating on justifying the installation price it attempts to bamboozle with technicalities that are not understandable to anyone.
My interpretation, they got commissioned to write a report that would say that the NBN doesnt need Telstra and its customers, thereby giving the govt leverage in the negotiations with TLS.
Instead the authors short of contradicting their customers, have opted instead to do a "yes minister" in their report which basically renders the report useless for Rudds purposes and yet enables them to technically collect the fat cheque as the report has been done.
You can be sure that the financial fundamentals must be pretty dodgy for this report to come out in this form. It must have been "unavoidable" that there had to be massive qualifications in the report to reach the conclusion....(as specified by the govt)that the NBN is financially viable.

Reports say that Rudd is furious with Conroy over this debacle. Rudd knows the honeymoon is over. Now more than ever during his reign, the government is under scrutiny for every cent that they dole out in the name of stimulating the economy.......(you know the economy that is now recovering). Which is it by the way Rudd?
Rudd knows this NBN has to be sold to the ever growing more scepticle public and was relying on his bumbling offsider to provide the goods. Laurel and Hardy comes to mind and their famous catch phrase " this is another fine mess you have gotten us into"

I predict that the report will never see the light of day because the value to their argument is limited and it would just raise so many more questions that need answering . In that scenario Abbott would just bog it down woth question after question raised and rather than the NBN being a positive for Rudd it would become a major election issue one which could tip the balance in favour of an election defeat
