I have just shopped at aldi for the first time.
We shopped with a purpose, picking up items similar in quality to coles and woolies but much cheaper.
I bought a couple of bottles of Jacobs Creek at $7.00 a pop.
The good old vin ordinaire!
I think we will probably go to aldi on a semi regular basis.
Why not?
We are not time poor, we save a few bucks.
We now know what we want to buy.
Being a Wednesday morning (specials on sale) the store was probably at busiest for the day, as the bargain hunters did battle over a pile of jumpers and jackets.
The Aldi,in question is at Thornleigh NSW next door to Woolies.
In this local area there are IGA stores at Pennant Hills and Westleigh.
The IGA at Pennant Hills is the sole grocery outlet at Pennant Hills.
aldi is set to replace IGA at Westleigh in October this year.
The Westleigh site is particularly interesting as Westleigh is essentially a peninsular suburb. The main road leads to Westleigh and there it ends.
I can't see that aldi will meet the needs of that local community given it's limited range of product.
Seems to me that here aldi is more interested in driving IAG out than turning a quid.
