  From March 31 to April 3, 2019, the final acceptance group consisting of the Congolese National Reconstruction Department, the China Gangang Association, the Large Engineering Bureau, the Upper Katanga Provincial Reconstruction Department, the Highway Bureau, and the Zhonggang Infrastructure Company. The Luanbo-Mituwaba-Manono-Kalemi road paving asphalt and modernization project was inspected. After inspection of the entire line foundation, bridges, drainage facilities, etc., the delegation announced that the project passed the final acceptance.

The project runs through the Upper Katanga Province from north to south and is an important part of the Luanbo-Manono RP617 road. It is also an important gateway connecting Katanga Province and Tangaika Province. The total length of the first-phase project line is 149.6KM. The starting point is located in Lu'anbo Town and the end point is about 10KM north of Junbo Town. Most of the road sections are designed as two-way two-lane gravel soil road surface, and the local road section is asphalt pavement.
On October 26, 2015, the project was officially started. It was jointly implemented by the China Railway Seventh Bureau and the China Railway 9th Bureau. On January 15, 2018, the project was successfully passed. During the construction process, it has overcome difficulties such as difficulty in reclaiming large quantities of materials, difficulty in construction of long lines, difficulty in purchasing small materials in cities along the line, and high construction and maintenance costs in four rainy seasons.



After the implementation of the project, the transportation capacity of Luanbo to Manono has been greatly improved. The population of towns and villages along the line has increased significantly, and the economic development has been significantly improved. It is the tourism development and economic prosperity of Upper Katanga Province. The development of mineral resources in the Manono region has laid a solid foundation.
