The plan was always to reach Mitwaba by the end of 2018 prior to the wet season and Manono by the end of 2019. This results in a compacted dirt road suitable for transport. Later there are plans to asphalt the surface. Manono is getting asphalt right now. The port city of Kalemie just finished paving many kilometres of road and there are other rehabilitation projects heading towards Manono. I've yet to see anything going east however which seems to be the route AVZ wants to take. A rehabilitated road to Kalemie would by a big effort and take a few years. It will get there. AVZ just isn't going to be the quick flip trade some folks (including management in the past IMO) hoped for ​
