I think it would be similar to iron ore, initial pricing mechanism wasn't market linked, eventually changed to market linked pricing.
Lithium metal was in a niche market, still not very big at the moment, around 300kt LCE p. a, but electric vehicles alone will drive lithium demand to 1Mt LCE probably by 2025. If electric vehicle adoption fetches 50%, lithium demand from electric vehicles alone would be around 2.5 million tons LCE.
I think all lithium investors are bullish because of electric vehicle revolution.
