Never forget that what drives government animosity towards Telstra is good, old fashioned hatred by senior public servants towards those ex public servants who ended up with senior roles in the privatised Telstra.
This hatred is extreme and impossible for an outsider to imagine - it arises from similar corners of the human psyche that drive civil wars.
The public service continues while the elected branch of government changes. Thus the hatred endures.
These people want "their" business (Telstra) back.
I could go on but this is probably not the forum - but one more observation - the term "public servant" can be stretched to include many trade union officials (eg Conroy) who owe their privileged existence to successfully cosying up to government.
