    The scientists " move the goal posts " when they discover new information.

    They develop a theory and then they test that theory. Part of testing that theory is selecting particular points that are more easily provable ( or not ) and working on them. That way they can confirm or dismiss each point as they go thus moving to a better level of understanding .

    So, theories evolve as we learn more.

    Unlike religion where it's just " believe what I say " and that's it.

    That might have worked a few hundred ( or thousand ) years ago but it doesn't work today.

    I was listening to a podcast recently of an Australian born and bred women that has converted to Islam in later life. She explained the differences ( and the similarities between the Islamic faith and the Christian faith. She personally found ' answers ' in Islam that she couldn't find in other religions. It gave her comfort when that happened.

    Clearly to me they are just two slightly different versions of the same story. I laugh to myself when religious people claim that their particular religion and their god is the only one. Despite there being millions of other people who claim theirs is the only one.
