Most people focus on the fact that malignant cancer cells only produce 2 ATP's per molecule of glucose, BUT:
1) They crank up their glucose-importing machinery to pump glucose into their cells. Cancer is a glucose hog. Starve it of glucose and you slow it down.
2) The ATP is a "by-product"...they shunt the intermediary compounds off to side-pathways for construction of cell-building materials. It is this that drives the growth of cancer.
Otto Warburg figured this out a century ago...amazing foresight.
