    Wrong.

    Those descriptors such as "queue jumpers" don't appear anywhere in the UN conventions to which Australia is a signatory. They are made-up terms used by people who want to feel better about their own prejudices.

    A refugee's right to be protected against forcible return or expulsion is set out in the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees:

    No Contracting State shall expel or return a refugee in any manner whatsoever where his life or freedom would be threatened on account of his race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social or political opinion (Article 33(1)).

    Australia signed up for this.
