That's one point we can agree on Mogga. I don't want to see economic refugees coming to Australia at the expense of the real refugees either.

Problem is.... the Aus government has been unable to establish that most of the detainees on Naru aren't genuine refugees.Fact.

If any Naru detainees believe their freedoms or security are threatened in their homeland that makes them genuine refugees - according to the rules Australia agreed to with the UN.

If the Government no longer supports that agreement it should formally rescind Australia's support for the UN convention. They won't though, because they know what message that would send to the rest of the world and we'd be an international pariah.
