If the shares have been lent out wouldn't they have to be...

    If the shares have been lent out wouldn't they have to be returned to the original owner before they are subsequently sold as part of the rebalance. Doesn't that then mean the borrower (if they have been short sold) has to buy again before returning, thus putting upward pressure on the price?
